Presenting a lower priced offer on a DVC resale contract

Like any real estate transaction, many buyers in the DVC resale market will make an offer on a listing that interests them. It is perfectly acceptable to offer a lower price per point than what the seller is asking. When an offer is made, your DVC Store associate will present your offer to the seller and keep you informed every step of the way.

It’s important to keep certain things in mind when you make an offer on DVC resale:

  • When you submit your offer to buy DVC resale, your DVC Store associate will present that to the seller and begin negotiating on your behalf.
  • You may be competing against other buyers when you make an offer. If another buyer presents a full-price offer, it will supersede any lower offers, and the full-price buyer will take the contract.
  • If your offer is accepted by the seller, a deposit would be due within 7 days. The deposit would be 10% of the purchase price (which can be put on a credit card up to $7,500 – depending on the Title Company.
  • The final balance would not be due until closing, which is approximately 7 to 8 weeks from the date the offer is accepted.
  • Please note that Disney Vacation Club (DVC) retains the Right of First Refusal (ROFR) on all DVC resale contracts. If Disney determines that an offer is below their acceptable threshold, they may choose to exercise this right to protect direct pricing and market demand.

If Disney exercises its ROFR, the transaction cannot proceed with the current buyer, as Disney becomes the new buyer and the ROFR decision is final. As the buyer, you will receive a 100% refund of your deposit, or you may apply it toward a different purchase if you prefer.

Significant savings. Depending on the resort, buying resale can save you $65–$100+ per point compared to purchasing directly from Disney Vacation Club. Over the life of your membership, that can translate into thousands of dollars in savings—without sacrificing the quality of your Disney vacations and resort accommodations.

Mostly, yes — but there are some restrictions. Resale points cannot be used for the  Disney Collection or Adventures by Disney, and do not include “Membership Extras” such as member discounts or exclusive events. Resale points can be used at the 14 original DVC resorts and at the thousands of Interval International (I.I.) resorts through the I.I. exchange program.

Note: Resorts opened after January 19, 2019 (e.g., Disney’s Riviera Resort, Villas at Disneyland Hotel, and The Cabins and Fort Wilderness) have specific resale restrictions.

It depends on your vacation habits — how often you travel, where you stay, and time of year. Our team can help you estimate based on past trips and future plans. You can use your points at any eligible DVC resort or through Interval International exchanges.
Yes. Renting is a great way to “test drive” DVC before committing. Points generally rent for about $20 each (e.g., 90 points for a week at Disney’s Boardwalk Villas = $1,800).
Yes. Points can be used at DVC resorts across the U.S. and Hawaii, plus exchanges worldwide through Interval International.
Typically 30–45 days after closing. Once Disney processes the transfer, you’ll get a membership number and can book online or through DVC Member Services.
Your Use Year is the month your points renew annually. It does not affect when you can book — only when your annual allotment becomes available and your banking deadlines.
Not with resale. You can purchase as few as 25 points (the smallest deed Disney offers). Direct purchases require at least 150 points to qualify for Membership Extras.
