A Spooktacular Guide to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Halloween at Walt Disney World is one of the most magical (and slightly spooky) times of the year! The highlight of the season is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) at Magic Kingdom.
Held on select nights from mid-August through October 31st, this after-hours event transforms the park into a Halloween wonderland filled with candy, costumes, and Disney magic.
What Makes the Party Special
Unlike a regular day at Magic Kingdom, MNSSHP is a separately ticketed event. Because admission is limited, crowds are smaller, and guests can enjoy:
- Exclusive entertainment
- Shorter wait times for rides
- A festive Halloween atmosphere

The party officially runs from 7:00 PM to midnight, but ticket holders can usually enter the park as early as 4:00 PM. That gives you extra time to enjoy a few attractions before the spooky fun begins!
Once the clock strikes 7 PM, trick-or-treating begins throughout the park. Disney goes all out with generous candy trails and even offers allergy-friendly options so everyone can join the fun.
Entertainment You Can’t Miss
- Mickey’s Boo-to-You Parade
The night begins with the Headless Horseman riding down Main Street, followed by floats of Disney villains, Haunted Mansion grave diggers, and beloved characters in Halloween costumes. - Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular
Hosted by Jack Skellington, this fireworks and projection show lights up Cinderella Castle with dazzling pyrotechnics and a family-friendly haunted storyline. - Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
On the Castle Forecourt Stage, the Sanderson Sisters return with Disney’s most wicked villains for a fun, musical performance full of magic and mischief. - Character Meet and Greets
Meet rare characters like Jack and Sally, the Seven Dwarfs, and Disney villains such as the Evil Queen from Snow White. - Attraction Overlays
Some rides get a spooky twist! Look for:- Live pirates in Pirates of the Caribbean
- Space Mountain in total darkness
- Mad Tea Party with eerie lighting effects

Dressing Up for the Occasion
Unlike a regular Disney day, guests of all ages can wear costumes! Whether you go all out with a group theme or keep it simple with festive colors, dressing up adds to the fun. Just remember to follow Disney’s costume guidelines for safety and comfort.
Is It Worth It?
Absolutely! For Disney fans, families, and anyone who loves Halloween, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a must-do experience. The smaller crowds, exclusive shows, and festive atmosphere make it one of the best seasonal events at Walt Disney World.
Tips for Making the Most of Your Night
- Arrive at 4:00 PM to enjoy bonus park time.
- Watch the second parade for smaller crowds.
- Prioritize rare character meet-and-greets early.
- Don’t miss exclusive Halloween snacks and merchandise available only during the event.
Whether you’re trick-or-treating through Fantasyland, watching fireworks light up the sky, or dancing with villains on Main Street, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party offers the perfect mix of fright and fun for all ages.
